I need some different (and quick) breakfast ideas.  I don't eat eggs, so that makes it a problem.  Also, I generally have to eat and be out of the house by 7am once school starts up.  Usually I eat a Lender's bagel and coffee, but I need some better stuff (and I get tired of cereal).

How about fruit? Cantaloupe, honeydew, oranges, even more exotic stuff, like mangoes and papayas.
yogurt is always good on the go,I like to put granola in it for texture....and if all you can do is a bagel, put ham in it,for protein. (and cheese if you'd like.)

Hope that helped!

I usually just eat some cereal with some kind of fruit (usually a banana), although occasionally I'll eat eggs.

I'm not much help. XD

In the past, cereal really hasn't satisfied me.  But then, I had late lunch (12:30 - late because I wind up eating breakfast around 6:30am).  Now I have an earlier lunch, so I might be able to manage cereal and not be starving by 11:30.

What's the snack situation like, LT?  I usually munch on a piece of fruit or maybe some nuts in the morning (usually a couple of hours after breakfast), although sometimes I'll have one of those Kraft Handi-Snacks pudding cups.  Even though I think they count as a starch, they only have 100 calories and there is a fat-free variety.

Well, I'm trying to reduce the number of snacks - with the early lunch, I don't really need a morning snack.  I've been bringing those 100 calorie snack packs for after school snacks.  Since I'm back in a computer lab, I don't want to make a habit of snacking while class is in session, and between classes we have to monitor the hallways.

Ah.  I'm beginning to wonder if I should cut my morning snack out.  I eat breakfast kinda late (around 9am), and I usually don't feel hungry until around 1 or 1:30 in the afternoon.

On breakfast, though, have you tried turkey bacon?  I think whereas 1 slice of bacon counts as a fat exchange, 3 slices of turkey bacon counts as 1 protein and 1 fat.  I bought some from the store this week that is lean (95% fat free) and each slice is only 20 calories.  Of course, since cooking with oil adds fat, I use a cooking spray instead.  It seems to do fairly well.

I actually just microwave the turkey bacon - in fact, if you do put it in a pan, you don't need oil.  I've actually used the turkey bacon in a pan before making eggs or french toast.

My problem is time.

I should pick up some bread and make french toast - with the low cal bread, 2 slices are a starch and a protein.

How about a protein drink? They're really good for you, and they're filling as well. They're also easy to make, just put in the protein shake mix and add milk or water and stir. I have one each morning, and for variety, I have different brands. The only drawback is that they're quite expensive.

By the way, if you're trying to lose weight, stay away from bread/pasta/potato/corn and all other starches because they will only make you gain weight. Especially anything that's white/processed as they are basically sugar.

Protein shake pricing is a problem - mostly because I don't know if I'll have an allergic reaction, and who wants to spend on a can, then have a 3 day migraine after 1 shake?

Hmm, what are you allergic to? This is what I usually do, I buy pure protein isolate from the health food shop as I can just scoop out as much as I like from the containers. Then I add a very small amount of cocoa for taste. By small, I mean very, very small. Half a teaspoon or so. Then I add milk and stir. Very quick and easy, and if you don't have time, mix it with the cocoa in advance so you can scoop it out every morning.

Well, according to one doctor, it's more "sensitivity" than "allergy".  One problem is, you never know when it's going to crop up.  For example, bottled drinking water doesn't bother me, but "spring" water gives me a headache within an hour.  Yogurt is a big trigger for me, as is artificial sweetener, some cheeses - a lot of times, though, I can't pinpoint an exact trigger in an item.  Sometimes the effect is cumulative - the way an allergist put it, a "4" is an instant trigger, but if you have 4 "1" level triggers, it equals that "4"

From what you're describing, it sounds as if you may have a MSG sensitivity. It can either be instant or cumulative. I think you should check every single thing you eat for MSG as it can cause all kinds of symptoms ranging from migraines to skin rashes. The number to look for is E621.

Here is a website that covers MSG - and it can also cause obesity. http://www.truthinlabeling.org/ - I've found it pretty useful.
