Apparently, we've entered an era where giving your opinions, if it differs from the "popular opinion", everyone jumps on you for it.

Whatever happened to "OK, I see your point of view, why do you feel like that, here's my POV, here's why."

I'm getting to the point where I don't feel like I can voice my opinions at forums anymore.  I voiced my opinon on what I've seen of the current Gar/Doom Patrol appearence, and now everyone is acting like I'm wrong.  If I post my anti shipping views, all hell breaks loose.

Hell, I can't even voice them in real life without it turning into a battle.  I had to spend the time of my niece's bat-mitzvah avoiding discussions that came close to politics with my mom's "George W. Bush is God" relatives.  I'm not even getting into the fact that if you don't "yes" my mom to death, even if your opinion is totally different, you have absolute chaos.

I'm sorry, but I'm sick of all of this.  I'm tired of entering places and feeling like I can't give my own opinions without having my head bitten off.

I know how you feel... I love a good debate, especially on politics...and once, i was in my English class and politics came up..and so many people where on the opposing side, that I wasn't even gonna try..I opened my mouth and they where at my neck.
Now, i just shook my head and dropped it, saying  "Believe what you want, I don't care, just don't shove your beliefs down my throat." I listened to their complaining and all the crap they where talking and didn't get on THEIR cases the way they did to me....I admit that I AM mature for my age and I feel I understand politics much better than the average teenager, but jeez, have some respect!!!!
........sometimes i just want to kill all the stupid people. bat

I feel the same way. only everywhere. no matter what i say to anyone, even if someone merely overhears me, they've go to act like it's a verbal battle and just pounce on me. x.x i've learned to jsut shut my mouth. -sigh-

you see all these posters and quotes telling you to act like yourself, or stick up for what you like, but it's like why bother anymore?

I know.  I'm getting to the point where I don't want to say anything to the other computer teacher - any time I say something to her about a lesson idea or how I think something should be handled, I almost feel like she thinks I'm crazy.

Around here, I try to at least encourage open discussion (I just try to keep everything to its designated forum and thread) - at one board, they've created a thread only for those who love a certain pairing, and anyone who hates it or wants to have an open debate is "not allowed" - which is only really enforced because one of the mods is obsessed with the pairing).  I'm sure if someone created a thread for hating that pairing, they would ban them (even though the board isn't "dedicated" to that pair).

I've had my head bitten off lately too...At the alphaflight.net forum.

I was voicing my opinion (and dislike) about the news of the upcoming Omega Flight series and just because I had an differing opinon than the majority (and because I was quite a big mouth about it)...I was told by the owner of the board that I couldn't say anything further negative about the subject (so as not to ruin anybody else's fun in discussing it).
